Our Vision
We aim to connect with the young people and their families that enter our community and help to build resilience that will prepare them for a happy and successful life. We are committed to helping young people shift from a pathway of poor functioning to one of recovery and growth.
Our vision is for young people and their families to feel they belong to a safe and supportive community that is built on positive connections and enables us all to thrive. We deliver this as a not for profit community interest company that provides a child focused educational provision.

Our Values
Our values are clear in everything we do:
Connection: The act of joining or being joined to something else. We want to build trusting and two-way relationships between individuals and groups that are based in care and respect for each other.
Democracy: A belief in freedom and equality between all people.
Self-Awareness: Good knowledge and judgement about ourselves.
Equality: The right of all different people to have a similar social position and the same treatment.

Our Policies
English as an Additional Language Statement
We recognise that a young person's ability to participate fully in school life is heavily dependent on their English language proficiency. To ensure EAL young people make good progress according to their abilities, we provide the following educational support:
-
Identification and Assessment: Upon admission, we carefully assess the English language proficiency (speaking, listening, reading and writing) of all EAL young people to establish a baseline and identify specific learning needs.
-
High-Quality Teaching: In line with our Curriculum Policy, all teachers are responsible for adapting and scaffolding their lessons to meet the needs of EAL learners. This ensures pupils can access the subject matter while simultaneously developing their English language skills.
-
Targeted Support: Where necessary, young people receive highly individualised support or targeted interventions to accelerate their acquisition of English literacy and numeracy skills, ensuring they are not disadvantaged in their academic progress.
Welfare and Pastoral Provision
We understand that navigating a new educational environment while developing English language skills can be emotionally and socially challenging. Our pastoral provision ensures that:
-
Inclusion and Well-being: EAL young people are fully integrated into the life of the school. Our pastoral team closely monitors their emotional well-being, resilience and social development.
-
Celebrating Diversity: We actively promote mutual respect and celebrate the diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds of our young people, ensuring everyone feels they belong to a safe and supportive community.
-
Communication with Families: We are dedicated to working in close partnership with parents and carers. Where parents also have English as an additional language, we strive to ensure that essential communications regarding their child’s progress, welfare and school policies are clear, accessible and appropriately supported.
For more detailed information regarding our day-to-day EAL procedures, parents and prospective parents are welcome to request a copy of our full EAL Policy.
